Since I started coming to Pattaya one of the places I always pay a few visits to is the marine bar,or marine disco to some.Over the years it has had quite a few changes and it got me thinking about my first ever visit,back in about `91`.I do remember it had a sunken dance floor with a handful of steps leading down to it surrounded by a railing of sorts where blokes would lean against and eye up what was on offer.A lot will also probably remember it before the escalators that lead up to the disco nowadays,then there was a 2-3 flights of steps to reach it.
As you walked in there was a banking of tiered seating on your left which as only in recent years been replaced by a stage where I presume a band plays,although I`ve never seen them as I always go late.
As anyone who goes will know the dance floor now as coloured flashing lights like something out of Saturday night fever/staying alive,and tables,lots and lots of tables.
Even the toilets are in a different place now,instead of behind the bar area they`re near the back of the club.
Discos in pattaya come and go but the marine bar as really stood the test of time. More newer modern places have sprung up but it does its best to try and compete with the new kids on the block, and it does make a good fist of it.
Do any of you guys remember the marine bar of say 15-20 years ago (or even further back).
One other thing,i remember they used to give you a raffle ticket when you got a drink,which they drew at the end when it shut (in fact I think they still did this not too long ago) and on the ticket were the immortal words...
