I learned about Pattaya just a few weeks ago. I am travelling there soon. I joined Pattaya Addicts in the hope of learning some useful tips about staying in Thailand.
Over those few short weeks I have read many threads and each day I became more and more wary, more depressed . Most of the posters seem intent on scoring 'one-up' points. Each did it better, knew a prized secret - yet most of these posters can't spell, are addicted to acronyms , abbreviations, in-words, Pattaya-lingo. They talk as if they are members of some wow-wow gang. They can't tell a simple story. They are either too busy to spell words properly (yet not to busy to bore us all with their expertise) or they talk in this weird cult-talk. Everyone is pretending that they understand the gibberish.
In the end, hardly any knowledge is shared. There's lots of advertising for favourite spots. Lots of promotion for favourite girls - Devil's Den (suspiciously) repeatedly receives glowing reports. Very few people give a rounded response to the thread issue. It's mostly a clamber for 'Look at me, I went and I've got a chest full of badges.'
So there is a point to all of this . The best advice I have gleaned from Pattaya Addicts is to be aware that there will be 'Pattaya-addict' types in Pattaya when I visit, and I need to steer clear of them, first and foremost.
