Not sure where to post this, not exactly a trip report (no pictures), but also not related to Thailand.
Anyways recently paid a visit to a strip club since I was hanging out with a co-worker and looking for something to do.
The last time I was at a strip club was 7 years ago in San Francisco and that was only because it was a bachelor party. The club was Crazy Horse and I like that place because it's fully nude and they headline porn stars.
Anyways driving around we decided to hit Pure Platinum on Kearney Mesa road: http://www.pureplatinumsd.com/
The entrance fee was 10 U.S. dollars. We sat in couches close to the main stage area. There's other VIP areas but those cost the big bucks.
Not sure about drink prices but a bottle of Corona and glass of coke set me back 9 U.S. dollars.
I realize that going from a Pattaya gogo to an American strip club can be a huge disappointment for some, like going from driving a Ferrari to a Tata. But if you have the right mindset and take it for what it is, U.S. strip clubs can still be a lot of fun.
Pure Platinum has a main circular stage as well as a smaller raised stage in the back, with several poles. The girls dance to two songs when on stage (topless for the second set), one on the raised and the other on the main . Variety of girls but most were caucasian, with a few latin, black, and one asian stripper that was a bit chunky. Some were very pretty including a half Filipino, half German girl who looked a lot like the actress Lindsay Price. Overall though probably average to a little above average looks wise.
One thing I thought 'unique' about this strip club is that when the dancers were done with their two song set and came off the stage, they'd stop and stand in front of each customer to ask for a tip. It reminded me of those Muay Thai fights staged for tourists, and how the fighters would stop in front of each tourist to wai for a tip. Well, they didn't have to ask me for a tip, I just gave them each a dollar. Never been to a strip club that did that before, not that I've been to a whole lot. Fair enough though a buck for each dancer and to prevent cheap charlies from not spending a dime in the club besides their entrance fee.
Compared to their Pattaya "sisters," all the Platinum girls at least put some energy into dancing and moving on stage (and yes I do understand the two are different concepts). Many of them liked to do fancy acrobatics on the poles which was nice. One thing I do like about American strippers is how nice they smell.
American strippers also tend to use some sort of body wash or body perfume which has a sweet, flowery smell good for my nose. That's one thing I wish Pattaya gogo girls would do, heck maybe next time I go to Pattaya I'll give the girls a floral body spray as a gift (you heard it here first next time someone asks what to buy a girl).
Lap dances were 20 US dollars (non nude). I had one sweet girl that looked like she might have been late 20's or early 30's from the east coast originally. Not a whole lot of contact in terms of grinding. I don't know if you're allowed to touch the girls in here but I never touch girls in strip clubs anyways.
Spent a total of 80 U.S. dollars for a couple of hours. Again, for what it's worth it was an easy going, no stress, fun time. I never had the thought that it would be so much better in Thailand because I didn't have that mindset at the time.
I might try another club next time.
